Show keystrokes in a Mac screen recording

On-screen keystrokes show the keys you press during the recording. They are not click highlights, and they are not a text transcript of the screen.

Show the keys

1. Frame the recording: an area, a window, or the full screen.
2. In Recording settings, turn on on-screen keystrokes.
3. Press the shortcuts you want the viewer to see. Stop from the toolbar.

Leave this off when the keys would reveal a password or anything else you do not want in the file. The recording stays on your Mac.
