Highlight mouse clicks in a Mac screen recording

Click highlights draw attention to the pointer when you click. They do not show the keys you pressed. Turn them on only for a recording where the click itself is the thing to follow.

Show the clicks

1. Start a screen recording of the area, window, or display you are demonstrating.
2. In Recording settings, turn on click highlights.
3. Click through the steps you want a viewer to see. Stop from the recording toolbar.

The highlights are part of the recording. They are not drawn onto a still screenshot. A still image uses the annotator’s step counters instead.

Install Shoverlay on the Mac App Store. Screen Recording permission is required for the recording.
