A screen recording is the right file when a still image cannot show the steps. Shoverlay records an area, a window, or the full display from the menu bar, then lets you trim the clip.
Start the recording
- Choose Record from the menu or the All-In-One picker.
- Select an area, a window, or the full screen.
- Pick a format: MP4, MOV, GIF, or animated WebP.
- Stop from the recording toolbar. Trim in the built-in editor if you asked Shoverlay to open it afterward.
Choose what the recording includes
In Recording settings you can turn on system audio, the microphone, a mono mix, a webcam overlay, click highlights, and on-screen keystrokes. Do Not Disturb can silence other apps’ banners while you record. You can also dim the display and show a recording timer.
System audio uses Screen Recording permission on supported macOS versions. The microphone needs Microphone permission. A webcam overlay needs Camera permission. Leave those off when you do not want them in the file.
Keep the clip on your Mac
The recording is not uploaded. There is no Kingfont account. If there is no sound, check Recording settings and System Settings → Sound, and confirm Screen Recording is allowed. Then quit Shoverlay and open it again.
Install Shoverlay on the Mac App Store.
