Each capture mode can have its own global shortcut. You press that shortcut and land in that mode. You do not open the picker first.
Record the shortcut
- Open Settings from the Shoverlay menu bar.
- Choose the one mode — Area, Window, Scrolling, Fullscreen, Timer, OCR, Record, or All-In-One.
- Record the keystroke for that row.
A Dock icon is optional and separate. Turn it on in Settings only if you want Shoverlay in the Dock as well as the menu bar. Filename templates for screenshots and recordings are also in Settings. They name the file. They do not start a capture.
If the shortcut does nothing
Another app may be using the same keys. Pick a different combination. Screen Recording still has to be allowed or the mode cannot see the screen.
Install Shoverlay on the Mac App Store.
