A flatbed scanner wants the book pressed flat, which means breaking the spine or accepting a dark gutter. A document camera can photograph the book while it stays open. VeeCam scans that view on your Mac.
Choose the scan
Under the camera you can take a snapshot, scan a document, scan a book as a full spread or as a single page, scan a card, or read a QR code or barcode. Use the book spread when both pages matter. Use a single page when you only want one side. Auto scan can find the page, or you can crop by hand. Multi-page capture keeps going when the chapter is longer than one opening.
Set the page under the camera
- Connect a USB document camera, visualizer, or UVC webcam. VeeCam does not scan with the built-in FaceTime camera.
- Open the book flat enough for the camera to see both pages, without unbinding it.
- Choose the book scan, check the crop, and save.
The same steps work for a worksheet, a textbook, an ID, or a library copy you are allowed to make.
Where the file stays
The scan is saved to a folder you choose on the Mac. VeeCam does not upload it. If the camera picture is empty, grant Camera permission and reconnect the USB device. Install VeeCam on the Mac App Store. macOS 11.5 or later.
