Export a Mac screenshot as PNG, JPEG, TIFF, or WebP

Still screenshots export as PNG, JPEG, TIFF, or WebP. Recordings do not use this list. A recording is MP4, MOV, GIF, or animated WebP, chosen when you start it.

Export the still image

Open the capture from Quick Access or from History.
Save it, and choose PNG, JPEG, TIFF, or WebP.
If the first save to Downloads, Desktop, or Documents asks for folder access, allow it, or pick a folder in Settings.

PNG keeps a sharper graphic. JPEG is smaller. TIFF and WebP are there when the place you are sending the file asks for them. The file stays on your Mac.
